Hi y’all! Your friendly neighbourhood bloggers group AllMalaysian Bloggers Project (AMBP) is organising it’s kinda-annual blogger gathering on May 1 2009 (Labour Day), to be held at Studio V (The Star’s multimedia showcase place) at 1 Utama.
And this time around, the theme is based around the upcoming STAR TREK movie.
The event is called AMBP First Contact at Studio V, and there’ll be loads of activities and stuff going on, for both bloggers and non-bloggers alike:
- Treasure Trek (i.e. a treasure hunt using GPS equipment!)
- Blogger video interviews (you can watch, or you can participate and BE interviewed!)
- Star Trek Captain’s Chair auction (take photos with the Chair, or buy it – starting bid is RM1,701 – Trekkies would recognise the number…)
- Photo Session with Star Trek characters
- Lucky Draw
- Trivia Challenge (with questions prepared by a serious Trekkie, so be prepared!)
- Online Contest (win a cool Star Trek T-shirt that GLOWS when you’re near a WiFi hotspot!)
And to end the day, there’ll be an special EXCLUSIVE screening for bloggers of the new STAR TREK movie, starring Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana (mmmm!), and Sylar, err, I mean, Zachary Quinto, and directed by JJ Abrams (of Lost and Alias fame).
So if you’re a blogger, join the AMBP today and register for AMBP First Contact at Studio V now! You won’t want to miss it! 😉
See ya there!

For some reason or another, I found myself checking out some videos of songs in various movies, and came across this memorable and delightful performance by Jim Carrey in his smash-hit, The Mask.
See if this doesn’t become your tune for the day. Everyone needs some cheerful soundtracks now and then, especially now.

If you’re reading this, you might have already read other reviews. You might have even watched the movie by now. And thus, you no doubt will agree with me, and all the other countless reviews, that this was one hell of a movie.
If you did not mourn Heath Ledger’s passing before, you will now. We’ve seen his talents previously here and there, but here, in this magnum opus of superhero movies, he shone brighter than a supernova.
If The Joker here wasn’t one of the scariest comic book villains (or any villain from any genre, for that matter) you ever saw, you don’t know nothin’, mistah.
If you haven’t watched this movie, you should. Worth every single copper cent of the ticket price. More, probably.
I want to write a longer review, but everything I want to say has already been said by countless reviewers out there.
The only thing left then, is for me to stand and applaud the collective creative genius of the team that put together this magnificent movie. Especially director Christopher Nolan, and of course, the late Heath Ledger.
*clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap* *clap*
Check out the new Watchmen teaser trailer on Youtube. And that background song, btw, is The End Is The Beginning Is The End, by The Smashing Pumpkins. (Thanks, CT!)
Looks beautiful. And from the makers of 300 too! Let the hype begin…
Meanwhile, will be watching The Dark Knight tonight. Oooh, can’t wait!!
2008 has been a surprisingly good year for movies, as far as I’m concerned.
Most, if not all, of the movies I’ve chosen to watch on the big screen (and a handful on dee-vee-dee) since the beginning of the year have been pretty decent watches.
Maybe I’ve been lucky in picking out the good ones while ignoring the less-than-stellar ones. Or maybe I have a high tolerance for movies others may find sucky. Whatever.
Since I haven’t done a movie review in a long while, here’s a condensed version (what do the kids call it these days? A quickie?) of my thoughts on all the movies I’ve watched in 2008 follows…

Smashin’ Gathering for Bloggers
AMBP gathers again, and this time we’re collaborating with our friends from Cinema Online and Microsoft, both of whom will send a representative each to participate in the talks lined up.
Refreshments will be provided, so don’t pack your own lunch. 😉
After the gathering, there will be a special screening of The Incredible Hulk, the one with Edward Norton as the green behemoth. To know how you can get invites to this special screening, read the June 1 AMBP Editor’s Note post, To gather again.
Smashin’ Gathering Details:
Date: June 14, 2008, Saturday
Time: 11.30am onwards; Movie screening: 2.00pm
Venue: Outpost Cafe, Cathay Cineleisure Damansara
Yup, it’s that time of year again. Big budget movies, with spectacularistic explosions, jaw-dropping CGI, occasional hot babes, and chock-full of testosterone, all coming to a cinema near you.
Eyeris is so excited he’s named this week Indiana Jones week. Ok……
At times like these, one must be frugal, and therefore when it comes to movies, I’m gonna pick and choose the movies I’m going to watch on the big screen. The rest can wait till they come to a pirate, err, I mean, satellite TV. (Unless if I find myself with too much time on my hands and with very little to do. Which, sad to say, is probably quite likely.)
I’ve already started my “summer” blockbuster season movie viewing last week, having watched Iron Man. Pretty good movie, that. I heartily recommend it.
