A Song For The Ages

First post of 2008.

My main resolution: stay alive till 2009!😉

But seriously, as I was watching the live telecast of the countdown in New York via CNN, there was a moment a few minutes before that famous ball dropped (a metaphor for maturity, if there ever was one) when John Lennon’s legendary song began playing, and the million plus crowd at Times Square began singing along.

Gave me goosebumps.

This song should be made compulsory singing at all New Year’s parties, along with Auld Lang Syne.

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

-Imagine, John Lennon

Happy 2008, all.
