Word of the Year

For the coming year (that’s 2007 if you don’t have a clue, in which case, welcome to my world!), my word of the year will be: ALOOF.

a·loof (ə-lūf’)

adj.
Distant physically or emotionally; reserved and remote: stood apart with aloof dignity.

adv.
At a distance but within view; apart.

Not to be used in sentences like:

“Please, sir, may I have aloof of bread?”

.. or to be confused with afool, though it would be easy to do so.

Aloof. Yesiree.
