Classic TV Themes

In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem…if no one else can help…and if you can find them…maybe you can hire The A-Team.

Listen to the MP3 theme!

Check out the excellent collection of classic TV theme tunes at TV Cream! (Not recommended if you happen to be allergic to nostalgia…)

That site is like a key to my mental warehouse of stowed-away memories… There’s Fraggle Rock! Benny Hill! “The plane! The plane!” Wait! Holy old fossils, Batman! It’s Land of The Giants!! BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!!! And, oh wow, do you remember Supergran???

Not all my favourites are there, by the way. I could not find the themes for “V“, “Time Tunnel” and “MacGyver(but it’s ok, i’ll find them somewhere else – the web’s a mighty big place, yesiree, but they can’t hide for long..).

And lastly, but not the leastly, this one‘s an absolute gem.

Only the first ten seconds or so is actually the cha-cha-cha theme – more exciting is David Coleman dishing out the most unreasonable and hilarious bollocking ever given by a BBC sports presenter. Worth its weight in gold…

  1. when i was a kid, i used to tape lots of tv themes on those 60 minute cassettes using a portable tape recorder. i still have those tapes till today though not much can be said about the oxide layer on those tapes. now thanks to you, i’m can play these songs on my computer speakers and use that tape recorder to record those songs again for the sake of reliving my (weird) childhood. *grin*

  2. u brought back memories – i actually have a cassete of theme music stored somewhere – bought it at a garage sale – still in good condition :)))

I love pink panther – dont remember v though remember all those mice and getting called one coz of my name! ;p

  3. Funny this; me and my housemates were just watching it on UKTVGold a few nights ago, and we were humming the tune for hours afterwards haha

  4. Airwolf was a classic, I remember humming the theme to myself in school to keep myself amused. Had to stop when the class started staring because I became “too loud” without realising it.

Knight Rider had a pretty cool theme, but the re-mixed pseudo-bhangra version playing in nightclubs last year was like, hilarious.

And who remembers The Greatest American Hero? That one actually had lyrics to go with the theme song.

    Aahhh… the memories πŸ˜›

  5. like dj, i also used to record these tv themes when i was a kid. i’m glad now i’m able to find these classic themes on the net thanks to you, sashi.
